General Terms and Conditions of Sale

These terms and conditions of sale, apply to all pottery that is painted in our studio or painted for you as a commission, and our acceptance of an order via email or in writing or verbally in our studio or over the telephone confirms your agreement & acceptance to these terms and conditions of sale.

 

  1. Once agreement on design and the exact content of the commission, including wording and design of a plate is agreed, we cannot accept any further changes.
  2. If you require changes dependant on the level of work already commenced a 25 – 50% of the total cost may be surcharged, to cover work already done.  
  3. Bookings for parties are accepted on the basis of a minimum of 6 (six) paying painters and a £25 deposit is required at the time of placing the order. The party booking will not be reserved or held until the payment of the deposit has been made.
  4. The balance is due on or before the date of the party.  
  5. If the number of people at the party changes, please give us at least 2 days notice, so that we can set out the correct number of places for painters. 
  6. If the number of guests becomes lower than 6 (six), we will still charge you for 6 painters as this is the minimum size group we can offer parties for. 
  7. Signing plates, gift plate and all other paint commissions we produce is hand-painted therefore may vary both in exact design and colours from the images on the website or examples seen in our studio. If you require a specific colour(s), please ensure these details are contained in your order.  
  8. We aim to despatch your order for a signed plate within 2 weeks of the order date.  
  9. We take great care to ensure your signed plate is packaged so that it arrives in perfect condition. In the unlikely event that it does get damaged in transit, we will replace it free of charge as quickly as possible.  
  10. Any damaged or missing items must be reported to us within 48 hours by telephone or by email, together with a photo of the broken item. We will then notify you if we need the item returning or if you should dispose of the item, please retain packing until we have discussed this with you. 
  11. After receiving your signed plate, we cannot be held responsible for any subsequent damage caused to your plate for whatever reason, and all signing pens are supplied with full instructions, although the pen manufacturers instructions and conditions apply.  
  12. Cooking of pottery to "cure" signatures on signing plates must be done in accordance with supplied instructions; any damage or failure of the pottery is at the risk and responsibility of the customer. 
  13. Due to the nature of earthenware pottery, fine lines or cracks may appear in the glaze over time. This is perfectly normal and occurs in all pottery of this type. These lines are called crazing and do not detract in any way from the appearance of your plate. We cannot therefore be held responsible for this occurring.  
  14. We are constantly adding new pictures to our gallery and may include your plates picture unless you have specifically told us not to when placing your order.  
  15. Any errors found in pricing or product description will be rectified without undue delay. 
  16. All goods/services supplied by Scribbles Ceramics Ltd will remain the property of the vendor until such time as they are paid for in full. 
  17. Products shown are not the exact items that will be sent as most are handmade and subject to variation. 
  18. Scribbles Ceramics Ltd will only dispatch orders, upon receipt of payment. 
  19. Scribbles Ceramics Ltd is not liable for any orders that may be delayed due to incorrect information or credit cards being declined. 
  20. Balloons: If we have not got the requested balloon in stock we will substitute to as similar balloon, to ensure fulfilment of your order.
  21. Personalisation of pots and pottery gift items is available and our painters will decide positioning of text. 
  22. Correct spelling and words to be used, are the responsibility of the customers and any mistakes made by the customer and supplied to us, cannot be rectified, once the pots/pottery has been completed. It is advisable that all spelling and words are double checked before submission; changes can only be made prior to commencement of the painting.    
  23. Gift Plates/Mugs, bowls and platters etc… are all uniquely hand painted, and as such, small variations and differences will be inevitable, although they will be fundamentally similar to example shown. Any agreed variations will be with the consent of the purchaser. 
  24. Postage prices shown apply to products to be delivered in the UK only, additional postage costs for goods to be sent overseas, will be quoted separately to the customer with each order.  
  25. Incorrect personal details may lead to problems or delays in delivery, so before placing your order, please ensure that you have included the full address details, Please make sure you include an accurate delivery postcode. 
  26. Please ensure you supply your daytime contact telephone number, preferably a mobile number, or e-mail address so that we can notify you in the event that any delivery problems. 
  27. All prices quoted include Value Added Tax at standard rate. 
  28. Whilst all care is taken in the creation of your pottery, sometimes due to the nature of the bisque ware (unpainted pottery) and the extreme temperatures that are used to make the finished item, sometimes flaws or failures can occur. Scribbles will replace any faulty item with a replacement of the same value, but cannot be held responsible for any distress or trauma, or missed deadlines for collections, that may be caused by this failure, as every precaution is taken to ensure pottery is handled with the care and expertise, failures are usually unforeseen events.
